we need to start assuming that everyone we encounter is doing the best that they can. we need to approach each interaction striving to make the most compassionate assumption we can about that person’s actions. it doesn’t mean that we excuse abusive, destructive behaviour. but it means changing how we react to those meeting us with aggression, judgment, negativity, or hatred. in approaching people this way, we allow more space for ourselves not to personalize everything others do. we can foster compassion and helping. we can start to view our own selves as doing the best we can when we fall short of how we want to exist as humans. we’re all doing the best we can in this moment where we are, but always striving to better our best.

Anonymous: If its not warm... why do you live there??

Bahaha. Great question. I’ve lived in Canada my whole life and honestly there are a lot of parts of it that I do appreciate. Most importantly, my whole family lives here and so do my friends, and being close to them is vital. And also, it’s a hell of a lot better than living under Trump so I’m not looking to leave any time soon.
